Student Code of Conduct

SCOPE

This Student Code of Conduct applies to all students of Applied Training Solutions (ATS).

PURPOSE

This Code of Conduct details the obligations and responsibilities of students of ATS, and sets out ATS principles as they relate to the student's learning experience.

Although not every conceivable situation or circumstance is directly described, the principles contained in this Code of Conduct and any ATS policy that may be applicable, should always be applied.

  • Deal with complaints and appeals promptly, respectfully, and with discretion and in accordance with published policy and procedures.
  • Ensure that health and safety standards are identified and addressed.
  • Comply with the National Privacy Principles and apply practices to protect the privacy and integrity of student information - and only share student information with the Australian Governments, State and Territory bodies and other designated authorities where required to meet relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training and assessment services that comply with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure access to accurate and clear information relating to courses, fees and charges, refund policies and processes, access to support services, and complaints and appeals processes.
  • Commit to ensuring training and assessment products are valid and reflect current industry standards and expectation.
  • Provide reasonable access to academic and support staff to assist students with their individual support needs.
  • Encourage students to provide formal and informal feedback and that the feedback will contribute to the continuous improvement strategies of ATS.
  • Proactively ensure that the learning environment is free from discrimination and harassment and provides equitable access of opportunity, for all students.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Applied Training Solutions expects that students will:

  • Comply with this code of conduct.
  • Read the Student Handbook, comply with the guidelines it contains, and seek clarification on any matters that the student does not understand.
  • Be aware of ATS policies and procedures that directly affect their enrolment and financial commitment.
  • Respect all ATS property, including the learning resources, classroom environment, and tools and equipment supplied by ATS. This includes respecting the rights of other students to access and use these facilities.

  • Attend all scheduled classes, on time and prepared to learn.
  • Participate fully in all learning and assessment sessions and activities.
  • Submit assessments within the allocated time frames.
  • Supply accurate personal and other information to ATS to assist in the enrolment process, communications between the ATS and the Student, and the issuance of certification documentation. • To take responsibility for their own learning, including monitoring their progression through their course.
  • To reach out for academic or administrative support, where needed.
